League Matches

Israel Netball proudly announced the launch of its league in 2009. At the time there were five teams playing: Modi'in, Ra'anana, Jerusalem Mercaz and the then newly established teams from Ma'aleh Adumim (Jtown) and Tel Aviv. At the beginning of the 2012/2013 season, a group of youngsters from Katamon also signed on. Katamon continued playing for another couple of years but eventually disbanded at the end of the 2015/2016 season. We were joined by Kfar Etzion at the beginning of the 2016/2017 season and Givat Washington became our seventh team the following year.

Easily accessible for the other teams, most of the league matches are played at the indoor court in Modi'in.

As anticipated, the improvement in match play has been extraordinary.

Season 2019/2020 saw the introduction of a junior league which boasts many Israeli-born youngsters aged 13-15 who only a short time ago had never heard of netball let alone played it!

Covid-19 interrupted play in 2020 but we returned in 2021 with 8 teams and in season 2022/2023 we had 10 teams that had to be divided into two groups so we could accommodate them all!

There are currently two junior leagues  - huge credit goes to Nomi, Keren and Ilanit for running them so successfully!

Our 2023/2024 season should have started the week the war broke out. After a harrowing few months we began the senior league at the beginning of January with 7 teams and fewer games to be played.

The senior playoff (Bronze medal) and final (Gold medal) matches were held on 20 June. Tel Aviv won against the agile U17 team by 37-25. Ra'anana, who had lost to unbeaten Jerusalem during the season, took their revenge by overcoming their rivals in a high-scoring match 63-50. The audience was treated to some outstanding netball skills and our talented league coordinator Keren Gordon very deservedly won mvp.

The junior playoff (Bronze medal) and final (Gold medal) matches were held on 27 June. In a closely fought match Neve Daniel beat Rosh Tzurim 19-16 to win bronze. Ra'anana was no match for the Kfar Etzion team who won the gold medal with an impressive score of 53-21.

Congrats to all the teams who played in the leagues this year. We look forward to seeing everyone back on court next season!
